Dr Frederick Lim MBBS MRCP is a consultant physician to the London Clinic. He advises his patients that skin should be able to "resist" external toxins. He believes that rehydration is essential for the restoration of skin, and that regeneration can be encouraged by providing the skin with essential natural components.

Three of these components are Collagen, Keratin and Elastin.

Collagen is a protein with great tensile strength and it is elastic when combined with soft keratin. Proteins are composed of amino acid building blocks, so when collagen deteriorates with age and weathering, wrinkles result.

Keratin is also a protein. One of its amino acids, cysteine, forms strong bonds which create stability. It is the main component of hair and nails.

Elastin, the third protein, allows the skin to reshape after it is stretched.

These three proteins are the core components of the Dr.Fred range of seven products for skin, hair and nails. Each product contains varying combinations of naturally sourced marine collagen, marine elastin and wheat, soy and corn protein (keratin).

None of the Dr.Fred products has been tested on animals and they are all safe to use during pregnancy.
